Inspection frequency lookup

How often common fire protection items are inspected, tested or serviced, summarized in our own words from public sources. Codes covered: NFPA 25 (sprinkler systems), NFPA 72 (fire alarm), NFPA 10 (portable extinguishers) and NFPA 96 (commercial kitchen hoods), all published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Please read: This is a plain-language planning aid written in our own words, not the code. The local authority having jurisdiction (usually the fire marshal or building official) and the edition of each code it has adopted govern what applies to a building. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Fire Protection Association. Review by a licensed fire protection professional is pending. Read the official text free at nfpa.org/freeaccess.
